TEMPO Café
Barista (Part-time, early open)
About the role
The early shift on the café counter, part-time. Suits someone studying or working around another commitment who wants real coffee training rather than a few hours pressing a button.
What you will be doing
- Help open the café and set up the counter before service.
- Prepare ingredients and tools for the shift.
- Make espresso-based coffee, filter and juices to recipe.
- Take orders and serve guests through the morning.
- Keep the machine, grinder and glassware clean through the shift.
- Check and rotate milk, syrups and fruit, and pull anything spoiled.
- Restock the counter and say what is running low.
- Meet food hygiene and safety standards.
Background we are looking for
- No barista experience required. We train on the machine and on the recipes before you work a shift alone.
- Reliable on an early start, and able to commit to a set number of mornings.
Skills and tools
- Willingness to learn the espresso machine and grinder properly.
- Working cleanly and at pace with other people in a small space.
- Basic conversational English is useful at the counter and can be built here.
Nice to have
- Any café, restaurant or retail service experience.
- Latte art, or wanting to learn it.
What good looks like here
Good is turning up when you said you would and leaving the counter better than you found it. The part-timers who do well here learn the recipes properly, ask when they are unsure rather than guessing, and end up the person the full-time team wants on a busy Sunday.
Pay and benefits
There is a group benefits programme across the team. We would rather go through pay and what comes with the role with you directly than publish a list, so ask us when we talk.
