TEMPO Bar
Bartender
About the role
Make the drinks, keep the counter clean and keep the pace. Coffee and juices through brunch, cocktails and wine through the tapas evening. Full-time or part-time both considered.
What you will be doing
- Make everything on the list exactly to recipe: coffee, juices, mocktails, cocktails, wine and beer.
- Prepare ingredients and tools and set up the counter before service starts.
- Take orders at the bar and send drinks out promptly and in the right order.
- Keep portioning consistent so the drink does not change between one bartender and the next.
- Clean as you go: glassware, spoons, the machine and the grinder, and the counter itself.
- Check ingredients through the shift and pull anything spoiled.
- Restock the bar during and after service, and flag what is running low.
- Work with the floor and kitchen so drinks land with the food rather than ahead of it or behind it.
- Meet food hygiene and safety standards in preparation and storage.
Background we are looking for
- At least one year as a bartender or in beverage preparation, in a venue where drinks are made to a written spec.
- Both machine coffee and alcoholic drinks, or a strong side in one and a willingness to learn the other properly.
Skills and tools
- Espresso machine and grinder, and the classic and contemporary cocktails you would expect on a small list.
- Working knowledge of spirits, wine and beer.
- Service speed: several tickets at once without losing the spec on any of them.
- Conversational English, enough to take an order and explain a drink.
- Hygiene as a habit rather than a task at the end of the night.
Nice to have
- Basic latte art.
- Vietnamese drip coffee alongside machine coffee.
- Any events or private function experience.
What good looks like here
Good is consistency that a guest never has to think about. Two people at a quiet table get the drink made the same way as a full Saturday. You hand over a counter that the next person can walk straight into, and you say when something is running out before it runs out.
Pay and benefits
There is a group benefits programme across the team. We would rather go through pay and what comes with the role with you directly than publish a list, so ask us when we talk.
