Waiter / Front of House
About the role
The floor across all three services: brunch in the morning, shared plates at lunch, tapas and private events at night. You take the order, you run the food and drink, and you read the room when it is a booked function rather than a walk-in evening.
What you will be doing
- Greet guests, seat them and take the order accurately.
- Run the service sequence to standard: right table, right dish, right drink, right order.
- Talk about the menu properly, across Western brunch, Southeast Asian small plates and Spanish tapas, so a guest can choose well.
- Work with the bar and the kitchen so food and drink land together rather than one chasing the other.
- Clear tables, change cutlery, and reset a table ready for the next booking.
- Set up the room before service and reset it after.
- Work private events: set up to the booked menu, pace the service, top up water and share plates at the table.
- Handle a complaint at the table calmly and tell a manager afterwards, not instead.
- Keep the floor and service stations to food hygiene and safety standards.
Background we are looking for
- Service experience is preferred but not required. We train the sequence and the menu before you run a section alone.
- Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Any banquet, function or event service experience is a real advantage here, because a third of the week is booked events.
Skills and tools
- Speed and accuracy under pressure without becoming brusque.
- Carrying and clearing properly, and keeping a section tidy while it is busy.
- Conversational English, enough to take an order, explain a dish and look after an event guest.
- Quick, warm and attentive on the floor. Guests here are often regulars.
Nice to have
- Wine or cocktail knowledge, enough to make a recommendation.
- Experience of a venue that changes format during the day.
- Currently studying hospitality.
What good looks like here
Good is a section that never looks rushed even when it is. You know which table is on a booked menu and which is deciding, you clear without interrupting, and the handover into an evening event happens without the guests seeing the room change gear.
Pay and benefits
There is a group benefits programme across the team. We would rather go through pay and what comes with the role with you directly than publish a list, so ask us when we talk.
